The Hybrid Vigor Institute is an independent, not-for-profit research organization and consultancy that is dedicated to interdisciplinary and collaborative problem solving.

The projects and problems that we find most interesting to pursue—such as curing and preventing infectious and epidemic diseases, analyzing the risks of science and technology breakthroughs, and designing enforceable global health and environmental policies—are those that have clearly overwhelmed the capabilities of any one area of expertise or field of study.

Instead, we actively seek out and connect experts from a range of fields, often for the first time, so they can exchange information and/or begin to work together toward common goals. We also strive to improve the methods used to convene and conduct these kinds of boundary-crossing inquiries.

Introducing experts to each other's work has long been known to be a powerful catalyst for breakthroughs in scientific research. But we believe that combining systematic deliberation and rigorous analysis in a collaborative setting can also speed the solution to many of today's most intractable problems that exist outside the lab, in the real world.

The Hybrid Vigor Institute, founded in 2000, is a tax-exempt, 501C3 public charitable organization supported by donations.
